20,000 Followers On Instagram!

Last week, we hit 20,000 followers on instagram! We are overwhelmed by the love we get from our instagram followers. In the 20,000 theme, we have decided to compile a list of 20 things to be thankful for in 2020.

  1. Food: People perfected making sourdough. While we cannot travel the world,  through the sense of taste wecan still enjoy the taste of fruits, vegetables, and all of the foods globally.
  2. Memory. We are all nostalgic for a less scary world. We are grateful we can still remember the times we waltzed into trader joes, maskless *gasp*
  3. Trees. Studies have proven being in nature is good for our overall well being. And COVID-19 is significantly less contagious outside
  4. Snagging a pack of toilet paper at the grocery store.
  5. Knowledge. We have more access to knowledge than ever before. And now we actually have the time to learn those skills we kept putting off. Online learning is booming. Now, so many companies are offering knowledge for free. Free courses, Facebook groups, and communities all over the place are coming together to support each other and grow together
  6. Growth and perspective. There is more time to  pause to be able to reflect on what’s important to you. We often get so caught up with our day-to-day obligations that we don’t take time to sit back and listen to what our inner voice might be telling us.
  7. Family bonding time. With less distractions, we are able to really focus on caring for the loved ones around us.
  8. Virtual celebrations. Oddly, distancing is bringing people closer together, and it’s true. The Zoom happy hours, drive by proms, and birthdays. The isolation has caused really creative expressions of love.
  9. Increased creative time. There is more time to read and write.

While the majority of the United States  may be on lockdown, healthcare workers are on the frontline battling COVID-19.Pollution levels dropped significantly- When the entire world was quarantined because of a pandemic, the planet received a breath of fresh air. Pollution levels dropped significantly all over the world as transports and businesses were stopped.

  18. The Bush-fires in Australia finally stopped- Australia had been facing bush-fires non-stop since the last few months but it stopped recently with heavy rains. The fire had killed 28 people, devastated thousands of houses and affected millions of animals.

Our oceans may not be totally doomed after all.- In one of the more hopeful climate reviews as of late, a group of scientists projected that marine life could recover from human intervention in the next 30 years if policies around overfishing, pollution, and habitat restoration are implemented swiftly. “Rebuilding marine life represents a doable Grand Challenge for humanity, an ethical obligation and a smart economic objective to achieve a sustainable future,” their report reads.
  20. Apple plans to be totally carbon neutral by 2030- Apple made a major commitment to fighting climate change Tuesday [21 July], announcing plans to be entirely carbon neutral by 2030. The pledge would cover its entire business, including its supply chain, manufacturing process, and the life of its products. An iPhone bought in 2030 will have net zero climate impact, including the energy a consumer uses to power the device, according to Apple. (more)

While it’s easy to get caught up in the negativity of how turbulent 2020 has been, there are bright spots in the most unexpected places.
