25% of FAANG Professionals Spend $0 On Gifts For Their Coworkers
This time of year, we all have questions about holiday gifts: Are you supposed to get your boss a gift? What about your coworkers? What gifts are appropriate? How much should you spend?
On Blind, the largest anonymous professional community with 4.1M users from big tech, unicorns, and startups, a user asked, “How much do you pitch in for gifts to your coworkers?”
Here are some key learnings from 1,432 professionals
- Overall, 22% of professionals across all industries spend between 20-30 dollars on gifts for their coworkers
- Tech and finance professionals follow similar spending trends
- 21% of professionals say they spend $0 dollars on gifts for their coworkers
- Despite their famously high total compensation packages, a quarter (25% of FAANG employees) spend $0 on gifts for their coworkers
- 15% say they spend somewhere between 15-20 dollars on gifts for their coworkers

An Apple employee responded to the poll, sharing “gifts are for families and true friends”.
A Google employee shared a similar sentiment “Don’t like social gifting. I prefer thoughtful 1-1 present if I have a meaningful relationship with the person”
Etiquette has a lot to say about gift-giving at work. However, the overwhelming sentiment of this poll shows that employees only want to give gifts to coworkers they feel are personally involved in their lives.
