35% Of Professionals Consider Leaving Their Job Daily
Generally, society tends to prize that workers should never quit. The idea like “never give up” and “stick it out” are common phrases meant to encourage people to just keep going.
However, on Blind, the largest anonymous professional network, this does not seem to be the case.
Blind asked 7,515 workers the following questions:
- How often do you consider leaving your job?
- Since the start of the pandemic, do you think about leaving your job more often?
Here are some key learnings,
- Overall, 35% of professionals consider leaving their job daily.
- 19% of professionals claim, “I do not think about quitting my job.”
- 47% of NVIDIA of professionals claim, “I do not think about quitting my job.”
- 11% of professionals consider leaving their job monthly
- 8% of professionals consider leaving their job quarterly
- 6% of professionals consider leaving their job annually
- 58% of professionals state that since the start of the pandemic, they think about leaving their job more often
- 62% of women professionals state that since the start of the pandemic, they think about leaving their job more often
- 71% of Booking.com professionals state that since the start of the pandemic, they think about leaving their job more often

An engineer on the Blind platform shared, “I absolutely hate my job and dread logging on each morning while WFH. I was mislead about the nature of work I would be doing when I was hired, and I haven’t been able to keep my technical skills fresh. We also have these dreadful hour long stand ups each day that my team and I absolutely hate but are required to have every day.”
A worker at Boeing posted, “I don’t get paid enough to deal with multi-level micromanagement.”
A worker at Amazon shared, “I am considering leaving the software industry and doing something more fulfilling.”
People quit their jobs for a multitude of reasons, but often the decision is tied to demanding bosses, unreasonable deadlines, and a feeling that the situation will never get better. The long-lasting pandemic has also intensified these reasons.
Questions to Ask Yourself
- How long is it optimal to be in my role? Is it time for a fresh perspective?
- Do I want more control of my life?
- Can I afford a change?
- ·Who am I without a business card? Figure out the answer ahead of time.
- For Type A personalities, how will I meet my need to achieve?
- What would I rather do? Become an angel investor, for example? Or join a board? Work for a nonprofit? Consult? Teach? Mentor?
- How will I reinvent my social network to make up for colleagues I won’t see daily?
