64% of Indian Tech Professionals Say Jobs Are Harder to Land, as Job Cuts Push 3 in 4 to Adjust Career Strategy
64% of Indian professionals say finding a tech job has become harder this year, according to the latest survey by Blind, an anonymous community app for professionals.
The survey collected responses from 3,280 verified professionals in India between June 16 and 23, 2025. Respondents answered multiple-choice questions regarding their sentiment about the current job market and the steps they’ve taken to navigate these challenges.
While 64% of respondents reported that landing a tech job is more difficult, this sentiment was particularly pronounced among employees at Freshworks (80%), InMobi (78%), Zeta (78%), Postman (75%), SAP (75%), Sprinklr (75%), Synopsys (75%), Veritas Software (75%), Meta (71%), and Expedia Group (71%).
This shift comes as the tech industry in India cut more than 62,000 jobs in the first half of the year, as companies prioritize AI and operational efficiency.
To navigate these conditions, more than three in four have taken action: 29% started looking for another job as a backup, 27% are learning new skills or technology, 13% have taken on additional tasks, and 7% have explored internal transfer opportunities.
Companies with the highest shares of employees seeking another job include Visa (57%), Synopsys (50%), Zscaler (50%), Tekion Corp (50%), Dell (44%), Nutanix (44%), Flipkart (41%), Samsung Electronics (40%), Walmart (40%), and Salesforce (39%).
The impact appears to extend beyond hiring. In total, 67% of respondents said the challenging job market has affected their salary or bonus this year.
On Blind’s anonymous network, users frequently share firsthand experiences echoing these findings. A verified VMware professional wrote, “The market is bad … I have an IIT degree on my resume, still very few calls. Recruiters hinted that they have 500+ applications for job openings. It's a bad market right now.” An Atlassian professional added, “The market seems to be really tough right now. Companies have become very choosy. Even if you do everything right, there is no guarantee of getting an offer.”
Methodology
Blind conducted a survey on its platform from June 16 to June 23, 2025, collecting responses from 3,280 verified professionals based in India. The survey included multiple-choice questions designed to assess respondents’ sentiment about the 2025 job market and the actions they have taken in response to it.
Participants were asked the following questions:
- Has it become harder to land a job in tech this year compared to last year?
- Have you taken any of the following actions to protect your job recently?
- Started job hunting as a backup
- Learned new skills or technology
- Took on additional tasks
- Looked for internal transfer opportunities
- Do you think the difficult job market affected your compensation or bonus this year?
