74% of U.S. professionals expect their jobs to be replaced by AI within the next 3 years
While 26% of U.S. professionals believe their jobs will never be replaced by AI, 74% anticipate their roles will be impacted within a finite timeframe. Among these respondents, the average expected timeline for AI-driven job replacement is 2.8 years on average.
The survey, conducted from June 9 to 22, 2025, collected responses from 3,510 verified professionals on Blind. Respondents answered multiple-choice questions regarding their expectations and experiences with AI in the workplace.
Professionals with over 16 years of experience expect AI to replace their jobs the soonest, with an average timeline of 2.3 years. In comparison, those with less experience estimate longer periods: 0–2 years at 3.0 years, 3–5 years at 2.8 years, 6–10 years at 2.8 years, and 11–15 years at 3.0 years.
A Microsoft employee affected by recent restructuring said, “Most with over 15 years’ experience, myself included, are managers who first face internal changes like restructuring and automation.” They added, “Focusing on overall organizational shifts rather than daily tasks, we tend to expect AI-driven job replacement sooner.”
The variation is greater across companies than by years of experience. Employees at Salesforce (2.3 years), Google (2.5), and Microsoft (2.6) expect their jobs to be replaced by AI sooner than the overall average of 2.8 years. In contrast, workers at Uber (3.2), Atlassian (3.2), and PayPal (3.3) anticipate longer job lifespans, estimating replacement timelines beyond the average.
These expectations are already being reflected in the workplace. 43% of professionals say that some of their tasks have already been reduced or eliminated due to AI adoption. An additional 23% report active discussions or growing concern within their teams, while only 30% have seen no noticeable changes so far.
More than half of the respondents at Visa (58%), Grab (54%), and Walmart (54%) said some of their tasks have already been reduced due to AI. Similar patterns were observed at Amazon (45%), LinkedIn (44%), and Adobe (46%), indicating that automation is reshaping roles even within the tech sector.
