Company Walk Outs?

Survey Result: 32% of professionals would participate in a company wide walk out, would you?

Last week, Pinterest  employees walked out to demand change at the company. This follows a similar trend from the Facebook employees staged a virtual walkout back in June.

Blind, the anonymous professional network with over 3.6 million verified users, asked 1,500 professionals three questions

  • Would you participate in a company wide walk out?
    • 32% of surveyed professionals  responded “yes”
      • 24% of Microsoft professionals responded “yes”, compared to 60% of Wayfair professionals
      • Only 15% of Facebook professionals  responded “yes”
      • 38% of Pinterest  professionals  responded “yes”
  • Do you believe walk outs could create transparency about promotion levels and retention?
      • 38% of surveyed professionals  responded “yes”
        • Only 20% of Facebook professionals  responded “yes”, compared to 34% of Amazon professionals
        • 53% of Lyft professionals  responded “yes”
  • Do you believe walk outs could create transparency about racial and gender discrimination?
  • 41% of surveyed professionals  responded “yes”
      • 42% of IBM  professionals  responded “yes”
      • 52% of Oracle professionals  responded “yes”

Pinterest ’s protests called for solidarity with three high-profile women who’ve recently accused the company of racial and gender inequity. The protest seemed to have been effective, as Pinterest named a Black executive to its board of directors.
