Nearly ½ Of Professionals' Work Hours Have Increased Significantly
A study of nearly 2,000 professionals confirms what many work-from-home employees already know: We’re swamped.
Work-from-home employees whose days seem longer, with more meetings and emails than ever before, may find this user poll on Blind, the largest anonymous professional network, validating.
A Microsoft professional who works in data asked the platform, “Have your working hours increased or decreased during WFH (Work from home) compared to during WFO (Work from Office)?”
According to data gathered by Blind, 49% of professionals’ work hours have increased significantly during WFH. 70% of professionals at Adobe and 60% of Lyft professionals’ work hours have increased significantly during WFH. 19% of professionals’ work hours have increased slightly during WFH. While only 10% of professionals report that their work hours have decreased drastically during WFH. 23% of Capital One and 30% of Goldman Sachs professionals say that their work hours have decreased drastically during WFH.
A Microsoft professional on Blind shared, “For many people (like me), it increased drastically for the first few months, followed by burnout/lockdown fatigue, that was then followed by a loss in productivity ?.”
An Apple professional shared, “I used to shut my brain off from work the second I stepped through my front door. Now that my office is just upstairs, this never happens, and I regularly find myself working until bedtime.”
An engineer at Netflix posted on Blind, “The problem isn’t WFH, but having to deal with kids while WFH. Cooking lunch, tech support, etc.”
A data professional at Dell posted on Blind, “I find it harder to sign off and wrap up the day because people expect me to be there 24/7”
