Pet-Friendly Offices Re-openings?

As companies begin to announce their reopening dates, employees are expecting more pet-friendly offices post-COVID. On Blind, the anonymous professional network, we learned that 35% of professionals got a pet during the pandemic.

The survey, which ran from 3.30-4.20 and had 4,300 responses, shed some light on what new company perks may need to include. With employees spending more time than ever at home, their relationships with their pets have strengthened. As such, employees are concerned about how their furry friends will fare when returning to a physical work environment.

39% of the surveyed professionals are expecting more pet-friendly offices post-COVID.

• More than half of Google employees (52%) are expecting the office to be pet friendly once the office reopens

• 53% of Amazon employees are expecting the office to be pet friendly once the office reopens

• 62% of Airbnb employees are expecting the office to be pet friendly once the office reopens
• However, 0% of Boeing, ExxonMobile, or GE employees have any hope of bringing their pets to the office once it reopens.

The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally changed what employees expect out of work. When creating a plan to return to work, employers need to consider what is most important to their workers and adjust these perks to be accommodating to those life changes. With 35% of the talent pool having adopted new furry friends, employers will have to offer additional perks if they want to entice top talent back into the office after more than a year of remote work.
