Is Meta Doing Sneaky Layoffs?

According to a few users on Blind, they were laid off from Meta this week, but the media hasn’t caught wind quite yet. Over 100 jobs were cut in San Francisco, including one user’s spouse and another user whose manager told them to WFH and “be comfortable” for their 1:1, where they were laid off. 

Is this the start of quiet layoffs in the tech industry, axing hundreds instead of thousands of employees?

Are Buzz Words Indicators of a Failing Company? 

Toxic positivity in the form of buzz words might be a sign your C-suite is flailing. One post from a Blinder shares that their startup isn’t doing well—”Revenue’s flat. Teams are thin. Small layoffs happen every quarter and people are constantly leaving.” And their executive team’s response? Jargon upon jargon.

Blind’s advice: jump ship while you can. Avoid the competitiveness that’s to come and death by buzzword.

A “Needs Improvement” Review That’s Personal

Does internal company politics put you at risk for losing your job? A PayPal employee shared that, for the first time in 15 years, they received a “needs improvement” on their review because they’ve been butting heads with their manager. 

“This doesn’t feel like performance. It feels personal.”

Rather than fighting the review, Blinders are suggesting interviewing for a new role at a different company.

What Happens Behind OpenAI’s Doors?

We don’t have much insight as to what happens at OpenAI. Rumors of a hiring freeze have been hinted at on Blind. Is it due to bankruptcy? Another post predicts lost revenue for 2026. 

What we do know, is that OpenAI might be on the outs, in terms of revenue and crowd scores.
