Microsoft’s Rewards and Bloomberg’s Lack of (Blind TL;DR: August 21, 2026)

Microsoft’s rewards this year are turning heads. And not in a good way.

Bloomberg is supposedly walking back its health insurance offerings.

When tech giants seem to be having budget cuts, there is greater concern for the economy and future of tech.

Microsoft’s Big Earnings but Small Rewards

Microsoft employees are upset (rightfully so) about the small reward options this year is bringing to their paychecks.

The company’s earnings exceeded expectations, leading many to believe that the company is doing extremely well financially.

However, when the percent of layoffs exceeds the percent given for a promotion, employees are going to be angry. After the 10% layoffs, employees are only seeing up to a 1% bonus or 5% for a promotion.

If it wasn’t enough that they have to fear losing their jobs, Microsoft employees are not discussing their inability to provide for their families based on the tech giant’s financial compensation.

Bloomberg Employees Are Seeing Less Health Benefits

Another company walking back its benefits and rewards is Bloomberg.

According to a user on Blind, the company is retracting some of its health care offerings. The pull back is creating greater concern for layoffs that employees fear are on the horizon.

Another user said, “I'm being forced to manage out perfectly good Engineers. Benefits are being cut. My external job postings have been pulled.”
