U.S. Tech Companies Are Outsourcing Labor (Blind TL;DR: September 25, 2026)

It’s been looming in the future as an option for tech companies, but the moves are finally being made.

Companies are officially offshoring and outsourcing labor as they put more resources behind offices based outside the U.S.

Netflix is the rising example as the company builds out its Warsaw office. Blind users shared this is also the case for Tesla, Robinhood, and Bloomberg.

Are Strikes Making a Comeback?

A few months ago, Samsung employees in Korea planned to go on strike for better pay and were able to successfully agree on a wage agreement. 

Now, Micron employees in China are planning a strike as they push for 15% of operating profit. In a poll on Blind that has nearly 2,000 votes, 73% of respondents say the workers deserve that extra 15% in employee bonuses.

Over the next year, will strikes make their way around the world? Workers in the U.S. threatened to strike earlier this year, but will the success in Asia encourage them to try again?

H1B Employees are Facing Greater Risks

The past few months have brought more challenges for H1B visa holders in the U.S. fighting to keep their status.

One user recently shared, while in the process for H1B transfer after accepting a role from Microsoft, their offer was rescinded.

Along with the presumed reason for the reneged offer, H1B holders are facing the removal of the 60-day grace period making it even more difficult for those from other countries to make a home in the U.S.
